MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND to Cancel 2022 Edition in Bangkok

MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND will not be staged next year as planned and will return from 13 – 15 Sep 2023. Focus shifts to MEDICAL FAIR ASIA and MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA, to be co-located at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, from 31 Aug – 2 Sep 2022.

21 September 2021, Singapore – The on-going ban on large scale events in Bangkok, which is still marked a dark red zone in Thailand, coupled with varied quarantine requirements for returning international travellers, has made it extremely challenging for stakeholders to plan their participation with confidence and certainty. Given that it is impossible to predict how the situation will develop in the coming months despite falling COVID-19 cases in Thailand and ramped up vaccination efforts, cancelling the 2022 edition of MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND rather than rescheduling the exhibition was the most feasible option due to the staging of MEDICAL FAIR ASIA and MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA in Singapore.

Mr Gernot Ringling, Managing Director, Messe Dűsseldorf Asia, commented: “Considering the time frame, with a little over four months to the exhibition, international exhibitors will need to start making preparations now. 90 percent of exhibitors come from abroad, while on the visitor front more than 40 percent, thus with this in mind and to avoid potential economic and health risks, we felt it was in the best interest of all participants involved to move MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND to 2023. However, we will continue our efforts to offer our exhibitors and visitors a business platform and gateway to Southeast Asia that is highly effective and tailored to all our current needs, and focus on a stronger showcase and enhanced edition of MEDICAL FAIR ASIA in 2022 which will co-locate with MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA, to be held in Singapore.”

“We believe that with this announcement ahead of time, it will benefit all attendees and pave the way for better planning and stronger participation at MEDICAL FAIR ASIA 2022, as the world transits to the endemic stage of COVID-19 by Q3 2022,” Mr Ringling added.

MEDICAL FAIR ASIA 2022 will continue to present both a physical and online edition of the exhibition thus ensuring event security as well as extensive participation opportunities for all involved.

Ms Daphne Yeo, Senior Project Manager, medical and healthcare portfolio at Messe Dűsseldorf Asia, stated: “The decision to cancel MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND 2022 was a difficult one, and required a careful and open dialogue with industry partners, representative offices and exhibitors. Fortunately, we have been able to make our decisions in agreement and are very thankful for the encouragement and support from all involved. We look forward to welcoming the global medical and healthcare community to MEDICAL FAIR ASIA in Singapore next year against a backdrop of greater market confidence and optimistic travel conditions, to deliver customer expectations and performance success with a highly relevant, innovative and future-ready trade fair.”

Both MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND and MEDICAL FAIR ASIA are the region’s leading medical and healthcare exhibitions and industry sourcing platforms. Its targeted exhibitor and visitor portfolio, international representation, and importance have helped position the trade fairs as a firm annual fixture, alternating between Singapore and Bangkok, serving the region’s medical and healthcare sector.
